Besides all it's obvious qualities Glass is also very strong if one knows how to engineer for it.

It can be annealed, toughened or heat soaked depending on the strength required. For the later two, all cutting, drilling & polishing has to be done prior to the toughen or heat treatments as the pieces can't be modified afterwards. This requires a clear plan for the look and function and a lot of experience to get it right first time.

Virtually all glass projects also involve Metal Fabrication of some kind to hold, frame or mount the glass. The way glass & metal are intended to join needs to be planned carefully, any mistakes become very costly, frustrating and / or compromise the desired outcomes. This is particularly true for structural glass projects that combine Glass & Stainless Steel or Aluminum
